"ANAL CUNT REHEARSAL, FEBRUARY 1989

 

I don't remember the exact date that this was recorded,

but I know that it was in February 1989,

with the original Anal Cunt lineup.

It was recorded in my mother's attic,

where we usually practiced.

A bunch of future Anal Cunt releases were recorded there,

like Another EP, our side of the split 7" with Psycho,

our side of the split 7" with Meat Shits.

Our songs from the 12" Master of Noise compilation,

and side one of the Unplugged EP.

 

As you can hear, the guys from the band Shit Scum

were there (Fred and Wayne, I played in the band as well).

I used to play in about 2 bands a dayback then.

Believe it or not, Anal Cunt used to practise

about 5 to 7 days a week in those days.

Not because we needed to practice THAT much,

we just had nothing better to do.

So between Anal Cunt, Shit Scum,

and Satan's Warriors (another band I was in),

I was practicing with usually 2 bands a day.

It's no wonder my mother got sick of us

practicing there after a while.

 

Throughout the tape, you can hear us saying

all kinds of dumb, stupid, useless shit.

That's how we were pretty much of the time.

This was also when being in Anal Cunt was fun,

and not the chore it eventually turned into.

There's also a part in the tape when me

and the drummer switched instruments.

We used to do that for a couple songs in those days.

It's pretty obvious when listening to it when this happens.

 

This was when our songs

were still pretty much made up on the spot.

Except the obvious ones where you can hear certain riffs.

Fans of the old Anal Cunt sound

should recognize some riffs here and there.

Also, on this tape was the first time we ever played the song that was later known as the

"slow song from the split 7" with Seven Minutes of Nausea."

We did it a couple times on the tape

(after all, it was a REHEARSAL tape).

Also, somewhere on the tape, you can hear

Fred from Shit Scum do an "infinite" song.

Fred later joined Anal Cunt about 2 years later.

 

So anyways, now that Anal Cunt have broken up,

here's a rare glimpse into the world of Old Anal Cunt,

back when it was still fun,

everyone in the band were best friends,

and before it became the alcoholic, drugged out mess

that Anal Cunt became.
