"HOW WE GOT 5,643 SONGS ON A 7":
WE WENT TO A 16 TRACK RECORDING STUDIO,
AND INSTEAD OF USING 1 TRACK PER INSTRUMENT,
WE MIXED ALL THE DRUMS, HUITAR, AND VOCALS
ONTO ONE TRACK AND RECORDED A WHOLE SIDE
OF A 7" USING ONLY THE FIRST TRACK.
THEN WE RECORDED AGAIN USING ONLY THE SECOND TRACK, THEN AGAIN ON THE THIRD TRACK, AND SO ON AND SO ON,
SO THERE IS ACTUALLY 16 DIFFERENT SONGS
PLAYING AT ONCE. UNDERSTAND?
EVEN THOUGH THIS RECORD IS ONLY 12 MINUTES LONG,
THERE IS OVER 3 HOURS WORTH OF MUSIC ON IT.
ALSO, EVERYTHING WAS RECORDED WITHOUT ANY EFFECTS
PUT ON THE INSTRUMENTS OR VOCALS."

"AFTER THAT IS OUR 5,643 SONG E.P.,
WHICH HAS 16 DIFFERENT SONGS PLAYING AT THE SAME TIME AND IS JUST A TOTAL WALL OF NOISE.
THE IDEA FOR THIS E.P. WAN CONCEIVED BY ME
AND MARC LINDAHL ONE NIGHT WHILE HANGING OUT
AT HIS APARTMENT. BEFORE WE GOT TO RECORD IT,
MARC MOVED TO NEW YORK, SO IT WAS PRODUCED BY ME
AND TOM WALTZ AT BF/VF STUDIOS.
THIS RECORD TOOK FOREVER TO RECORD 20 HOURS.
IT HAS OVER 3 HOURS WORTH OF MUSIC ON IT
ALL COMPRESSED INTO 12 MINUTES...
WE RECORDED SIDE 2 FIRST, ON SEPTEMBER 23+24, 1989,
AND WE RECORDED SIDE 1 ON OCTOBER, 1989.
BEFORE WE STARTED RECORDING ON OCTOBER 1,
I GOT THE IDEA FOR THE PIANO INTRO
WHILE I WAS TAKING A SHIT.
WE THOUGHT THAT THAT WOULD BE A BETTER INTRO
FOR THE RECORD, SO WE MADE IT SIDE ONE.
I ORIGINALLY PUT IT OUT ON MY OWN LABEL
(307 PRESSED, 50 OF THEM WITH A FULL COLOR COVER).
THEN MATTHIAS WEIGAND RE-RELEASED IT ON HIS TNT&R LABEL (1100 PRESSED ON 6 DIFFERENT COLORED VINYLS).
THE REASON I ONLY PRESSED 307 COPIES ON MY LABEL
WAS BECAUSE I DIDN'T THINK ANYONE WOULD LIKE IT,
AND I DIDN'T WANT TO GET STUCK WITH LOTS OF RECORDS THAT I COULDN'T SELL.
ALSO, I ONLY WANTED PEOPLE WHO HAD ALREADY HEARD
A.C. TO GET IT, BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT SOMEONE
WHO HAD NEVER HEARD US BEFORE TO HEAR IT
AND THINK ALL OUR STUFF SOUNDED LIKE THAT.
WE ALSO RUSHED IT OUT SO NOBODY WOULD STEAL OUR IDEA OF HAVING MULTIPLE TRACKS PLAYING AT THE SAME TIME..."

"THIS RECORD IS BASICALLY 16 A.C. SONGS
PLAYING AT THE SAME TIME.
THE IDEA FOR THIS CAME FROM ME AND MARC LINDAHL
ONE NIGHT WHILE HANGING OUT AT HIS PLACE.
BEFORE WE WERE ABLE TO RECORD IT, MARC MOVED TO
NEW YORK... SO TOM WALTZ, HAD TAKEN OVER THE STUDIO.
SO BASICALLY, WE WENT TO A 16 STUDIO TRACK
AND HAD THE GUITAR, DRUMS, AND VOCALS
RECORDED LIVE ONTO ONE TRACK
UNTIL WE DID A WHOLE 7" WORTH OF MATERIAL.
THEN WE DID THE SAME WITH THE 2ND TRACK, 3RD, 4TH, ETC. UNTIL WE HAD 16 DONE.
THERE IS ACTUALLY OVER 3 HOURS WORTH OF MUSIC
ON THIS 7". IT TOOK FOREVER TO RECORD (20 HOURS)...
WE ACTUALLY RECORDED WHAT TURNED OUT TO BE SIDE 2
FIRST ON SEPTEMBER 23 AND 24, 1989...
SINCE RECORDING THIS WAS SO LONG AND TEDIOUS,
WE WOULD FUCK AROUND NOW AND THEN AND DO
A FEW COVER SONGS (WHICH NO ONE CAN NOTICE ANYWAYS). WE DID SONGS BY NUNSLAUGHTER, FEAR OF GOD,
CHEECH AND CHONG, AND OTHERS I CAN'T REMEMBER.
I THOUGHT OF THE PIANO INTRO WHILE I WAS TAKING A SHIT RIGHT BEFORE WE RECORDED.
I ORIGINALLY PUT THIS OUT ON MY OWN LABEL.
307 WERE PRESSED.
A LITTLE OVER 100 WERE ON YELLOW VINYL,
AND A LITTLE OVER 200 WERE ON RED VINYL.
ALSO, 50 OF THE COPIES HAD A FULL COLOR COVER.
I DID SUCH A SMALL PRESSING BECAUSE I DIDN'T THINK
I COULD SELL TOO MANY COPIES OF A RECORD
THAT SOUNDED LIKE COMPLETE GARBAGE, PLUS,
I ONLY WANTED PEOPLE THAT HEARD A.C. BEFORE TO HEAR IT
BACAUSE I DIDN'T WANT PEOPLE TO THINK ALL OF
OUR RECORDS WERE SONGS PLAYING OVER EACH OTHER.
SHORTLY AFTER IT CAME OUT.
IT WAS LICENSED TO TOTAL NOISE TAPES AND RECORDS.
HE PRESSED 1100 COPIES ON 6 DIFFERENT COLOR VINYLS.
I THOUGHT HE WAS OUT OF HIS MIND FOR PRESSING
THAT MANY, BUT THEY ALL SOLD.
THE ONLY THING THAT SUCKED WAS THAT HE MADE
HIS OWN COVER FOR THE RECORD WITHOUT TELLING ME.
IT LOOKS LIKE A 5 YEAR OLD DREW A BAD PORNO PICTURE.
I WAS TOTALLY EMBARRASSED WHEN I SAW IT."
